Curves.
There are really only two shapes around us, curves and angles.
To us, curves are the shape of beauty and angles the shape of awe.
Baula in Iceland’s west country inspires peace and harmony.
Kolbeinsstaðafjall also in Iceland’s west country stirs the imagination with its rough young lava.
If we want to visualise data, our choice is to harmonise with curves or stir with angles.
My first choice with d3 is harmony which brought me to examples of what’s called Cluster Dendrogram and Radial Cluster Dendrogram.
D3 is known for steep learning curve but enormous rewards. All you need is some data and imagination (tutorials and examples implied).
The simplest and best known data structure in E1 is the chart of accounts – and an ideal candidate to experiment with.
How does it then look in Dendrogram?
I’ve only experimented with the demo database but I think it gives a nice overview of the account structure.
